Microneedling / PRP

Microneedling therapy, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that helps restore the overall appearance of the skin by stimulating new growth in the deeper layers of the skin.

The technique involves the creation of controlled micro puncture wounds across the surface of the skin, which in turn stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin –  structural proteins that are responsible for the skins elasticity and firmness. The benefits of this treatment include softening of fine lines and wrinkles, softening of acne scars, lightening of hyper pigmentation, reduction of broken capillaries and spider veins, reduction in the appearance of pores.

Usually treatments at 1 month intervals are recommended until the desired results are achieved. At that point maintenance treatments are done. The frequency of treatments depends on your skin type and your lifestyle. If you have a lot of outdoor exposure then you will likely require more initial treatments, and more frequent maintenance.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is another powerful tool in the science of rejuvenation therapy.  PRP is obtained from the patients own blood. It is a hyper concentrated form of platelets that can be injected into the skin, releasing potent growth factors that activate restorative and regenerative processes. PRP has been used for a long time in orthopedic surgery, oral surgery and reconstructive surgery, and is showing great promise in the areas of skin and hair restoration.

PRP can be applied to the patients skin during micro needling. It penetrates to the deeper layers of the skin through the channels created by the micro needling. It can also be directly injected into areas that require a higher concentration of platelet growth factor.

PRP combined with micro needling and direct injection is a relatively new treatment for hair loss as well. It is believed to restore hair growth by reestablishing blood flow to the base of the hair follicle. Excellent results have been obtained, especially in people with generalized thinning. For hair restoration, 3 treatments at 1 month intervals, followed by a booster  at 6 months is recommended followed by maintenance treatments.
