Earlobe Repair

A split or torn earlobe is a common problem and usually results from wearing heavy earrings over a long period of time, or repeatedly snagging the earring on clothing, which tears the lobe. Even if the lobe is not completely torn, the elongated slit will not hold an earring securely. Gauges can also distort the earlobe by irreversibly stretching and deforming the skin and soft tissue. Sometimes, the earlobe is just too big, too floppy or too thick.

Any of these conditions are easily managed in an office setting under local anesthetic, with minimal to no downtime. Stitches are removed in 5-7 days and the lobe can be repierced in 5 weeks.
